The HERTEL E2039116 is a cobalt square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers strong heat resistance and edge retention in demanding cuts. The 1.25-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 2-inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle, producing efficient chip evacuation and smooth side-wall finishes. Four spiral flutes and a centercutting geometry allow both plunge and peripheral milling. At 4.5 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch straight shank, this tool seats securely in standard end mill holders and milling chucks used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and shoulder milling in job shops, production floors, and maintenance machining environments. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration matches standard spindle rotation on vertical and horizontal milling machines and CNC machining centers. The regular-length body makes it a practical general-purpose choice where extended reach is not required. Its uncoated cobalt construction is well matched to cutting stainless steel, alloy steels, and other tough materials where high-speed steel tooling falls short but carbide is not required.
Designed as a standard-shank square end mill compatible with end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling chucks sized for a 1.25-inch straight shank, as used on manual and CNC vertical milling machines and machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention screw or collet nut according to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and confirm cutting fluid supply is directed at the cutting zone when machining ferrous materials.
