The HERTEL E2035148 is a cobalt square end mill designed for heavy material removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. With a 1.75-inch cutting diameter and six flutes, it delivers high feed rates and a quality surface finish in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The tool is manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, which provides superior heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard M2 HSS. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation across the 4-inch length of cut. At 6.5 inches overall length, this is a long-series end mill suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach milling applications where standard-length tools cannot reach.
This end mill is well suited for job shops, tool-and-die operations, and production machining environments where cobalt tooling is specified for stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and other tough workpiece materials. The long length of cut makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, slotting, and peripheral milling passes where reach is a constraint. The uncoated finish is typical for cobalt end mills used in applications where re-grinding is standard shop practice, and the spiral flute geometry handles a range of milling conditions without chipbreaker interruption.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for milling machines and machining centers accepting a 1.25-inch straight shank end mill holder or collet chuck.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out state before changing tooling. Secure the 1.25-inch shank in a properly sized end mill holder or collet chuck torqued to the holder manufacturer specification. Because this is a non-centercutting end mill, do not use it for direct plunge entry into solid material — ramp or helical entry strategies are required.
