The HERTEL E2033012 is a cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal in milling applications across a range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS cannot match. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The two-flute geometry provides clearance for cutting in slots, steps, and pockets. It ships in a bright, uncoated finish and is centercutting, which allows direct plunge entry into workpieces. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is suited for light to medium milling in job shop and production environments. The 3/16 inch diameter and regular-length profile make it a practical choice for small-feature work, detail milling, and slotting operations in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. The extended reach design, with a reach length of 1 inch 1/8 inches and a 3/8 inch shank, provides access to recessed features without sacrificing rigidity in the shank connection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling for standard 3/8 inch collet or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills requiring a 3/16 inch square end mill.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using a compatible end mill holder or collet rated for the 3/8 inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before changing tooling. Verify collet runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter tools. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for M42 cobalt in the material being machined.
