The HERTEL E2031008 is a 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. With a 0.125-inch cutting diameter and a 0.375-inch length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in applications where high heat resistance is required. The cobalt construction (M42 grade) provides superior red hardness compared to standard high-speed steel, making it suitable for stainless steel, hardened alloys, and other demanding workpiece materials. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and efficient chip evacuation. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians in general machining, job shop, and production environments.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a 0.375-inch shank is compatible with the spindle or collet system. The regular-length geometry and 2.3125-inch overall length make it appropriate for standard-reach milling tasks. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute configuration is the conventional setup for most vertical milling operations. It is not center-cutting, so it is not intended for direct plunge drilling. Applications include side milling, slot milling, and contouring in ferrous metals and exotic alloys.
Designed for use with standard 0.375-inch collets or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines requiring a regular-length 0.125-inch diameter square end mill.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth to prevent pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly when working with tight-tolerance applications.
