The HERTEL E111104003 is a single-end ball end mill designed for milling operations that require a full-radius cutting profile. Machined from high speed steel (HSS), this tool features a 0.625-inch mill diameter, a 2.5-inch length of cut, and a 4.625-inch overall length with a 0.625-inch straight shank. The 38-degree helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation during profiling, contouring, and slotting passes. It is an uncoated, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute tool in the long-length category. Machinists and CNC operators install this end mill in standard milling chucks or collet holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose metal removal on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a ball-nose profile is required. Typical applications include 3D profiling, cavity milling, and finish contouring on manual mills and CNC machining centers. The long-length configuration provides extended reach for deeper cavities and stepped features. Shops working with mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials will find this geometry appropriate for roughing and semi-finishing operations at appropriate feeds and speeds for HSS tooling.
Designed as a standard single-end ball end mill with a 0.625-inch straight shank, compatible with ER and DA collet systems, Weldon-style holders, and milling chucks that accept 0.625-inch shank tooling on manual and CNC milling machines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting pass, and select feeds and speeds appropriate for HSS tooling in the workpiece material.
