The HERTEL E107120001 is a long-length, square-end, high speed steel (HSS) end mill designed for milling operations that require extended reach or deep-pocket cutting. With a 2 inch cutting diameter, 4 inch length of cut (LOC), and a matching 2 inch shank diameter, this tool is built for heavy-material removal on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers. Three flutes provide a balance between chip clearance and rigidity. The uncoated HSS construction suits applications where regrinding or cost-per-edge economics favor HSS over carbide. Right-hand cutting with centercutting capability allows both peripheral and plunge milling without a pre-drilled entry hole.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals including mild steel, cast iron, aluminum, and brass. The long-length geometry is commonly selected when standard-reach tooling cannot access the full depth of a pocket, slot, or step feature. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals typically reach for this profile in job-shop environments, maintenance machining, and production setups where a single tool must handle both roughing and finishing passes. The centercutting design eliminates the need for a pilot hole in most plunge-entry applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application end mill for any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 2 inch straight shank toolholder or collet chuck.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Confirm the toolholder bore and collet size match the 2 inch shank diameter before mounting. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Never exceed the spindle speed and feed rate limits appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
