The HERTEL E1051029 is a double-end, 4-flute square end mill manufactured from M7 high speed steel. It carries a 29/64 inch (0.4531 inch) cutting diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 1/2 inch shank diameter, yielding a 4-1/8 inch overall length. The spiral flute geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle with right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation. Uncoated and designed for regular-length applications, this tool is suited to milling operations where HSS tooling is preferred over carbide. Machinists and tool-room operators working on manual mills, knee mills, or CNC machines running softer workpiece materials will find this a practical, workhorse end mill.
This end mill fits into general-purpose milling work across job shops, maintenance departments, and production environments. Its double-end configuration extends tool life by offering a second cutting end once the first is worn. The 30-degree helix promotes good chip evacuation and smooth cutting action on steel, aluminum, and similar materials. With a 1/2 inch shank, it seats in standard ER, Weldon, or collet-style toolholders commonly found on bridgeport-style and CNC vertical mills. It is not center-cutting, so it is not suited for direct plunge operations.
Designed as a standard 1/2 inch shank square end mill suitable for use in any toolholder accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank, including ER collet chucks, Weldon-style holders, and end mill adapters on vertical milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and torque the set screw or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on HSS tooling.
