The HERTEL E104305601 is a single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Ground from M7 high speed steel, it offers a 7/8 inch cutting diameter with a 1-7/8 inch length of cut, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and reduce cutting forces. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the tool cost-effective for shops running moderate production cycles. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom technicians using standard vertical milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
This end mill is appropriate for use in job shops, maintenance machining, and light production environments where a reliable HSS tool is preferred over carbide. The 5/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, side-lock holders, and Weldon-style tool holders commonly found in both manual and CNC setups. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional side milling, expanding its utility in die work and general mold work. It is not optimized for extended-reach applications.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill with a 5/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon side-lock holders, and similar tooling systems that accept 5/8 inch round shanks on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine safety procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated in the tool holder to the depth recommended by the holder manufacturer before torquing set screws or collet nuts. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for damage before each use. Speeds and feeds should be selected based on workpiece material, depth of cut, and machine rigidity following standard HSS end mill guidelines.
