The HERTEL E1039116 is a single-end, square-profile end mill engineered for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M7 high speed steel, it measures 1.25 inches in cutting diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4-flute spiral geometry set at a 30-degree helix angle. The uncoated finish and right-hand cut with right-hand flute configuration make it a straightforward choice for machinists running conventional milling operations. Centercutting capability allows the tool to plunge directly into workpiece material without a pre-drilled entry hole, adding flexibility to slotting and pocket-milling routines.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where a 1.25-inch shank can be secured in a collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style tool holder. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, slotting, and contour work in mild steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and similar materials. The 4-flute design balances chip clearance with surface finish, making it appropriate for finishing and moderate material removal passes. Overall length is 4.5 inches, giving adequate reach for standard depth applications without excessive overhang.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose square end mill compatible with standard 1.25-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders used in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the tool holder to minimize runout and tool pull-out risk. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings against published HSS cutting data for the workpiece material before beginning the cut.
