The HERTEL E1036016 is a 4-flute square end mill designed for milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel, it delivers reliable wear resistance in general-purpose machining environments. The tool features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-3/4 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch shank diameter with an overall length of 3-9/16 inches. The 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation during peripheral and slot milling. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration with an uncoated finish, making it suitable for use in manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills across production and maintenance shop environments.
This end mill is suited for machinists and toolroom technicians performing slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on mild steel, alloy steel, and similar workpiece materials. The extra-long length of cut classification makes it appropriate for applications requiring deeper reach than standard-length tooling. It is sold as a single unit and is used in both production shops and maintenance machining environments where M7 HSS tooling is specified. Note that this tool is not center-cutting and is not intended for plunge operations.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill compatible with machine tool spindles accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank, including standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders used in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered off before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, tightening to the tool holder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate wrench. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts, and confirm the tool is not used for plunge entry given its non-center-cutting geometry.
