The HERTEL E1031036 is a single-end square end mill designed for milling flat surfaces, shoulders, slots, and profiles in a wide range of workpiece materials. Constructed from M7 high speed steel, it delivers reliable performance in general-purpose machining applications where carbide tooling is not required. The 9/16 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1/2 inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard milling chucks and collet holders. With four spiral flutes ground at a 30-degree helix angle and a right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction, the tool promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It arrives uncoated and ready to run. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this type of end mill.
This end mill is suited for conventional milling operations on manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and vertical milling machines in job shop, maintenance, and light production environments. The 1-3/8 inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth shoulder and slot work. The 3-3/8 inch overall length provides adequate reach for most standard setups without sacrificing rigidity. It is not a centercutting tool and should not be used for direct plunge cuts. Side milling, peripheral milling, and slotting within the rated depth of cut are the intended operations.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch milling chucks, ER collets, and end mill holders on manual and CNC vertical milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down or in an e-stop state. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the holder is torqued to the machine and toolholder manufacturer specifications before running. Verify runout with a dial indicator when precision tolerances are required. Consult applicable shop safety standards and machine operator manuals for proper speeds and feeds based on workpiece material.
