The HERTEL C.E14.1746 is a cobalt extra length drill bit designed for drilling tough materials where standard-length bits fall short. Built for general-purpose industrial and trade use, this bit features a 135-degree split-point tip that self-centers on contact and reduces walking without a center punch. The 0.6875 inch (11/16 inch) diameter, 9.0 inch flute length, and 12.0 inch overall length make it well suited for deep-hole drilling applications. The bright uncoated finish allows easy visual inspection of wear. Two flutes provide efficient chip evacuation during extended drilling passes.

This bit is used in metal fabrication, mechanical contracting, HVAC equipment installation, and structural work where deep or through-hole drilling in steel or similar materials is required. The extra length allows access to recessed locations and thicker stock that standard jobber-length bits cannot reach. It is handled by machinists, pipefitters, millwrights, and field mechanics working on heavy equipment, structural steel, or large-diameter mechanical assemblies. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists, pipefitters, or mechanical contractors using a drill press, hand drill, or magnetic drill with adequate chuck capacity for an 11/16 inch shank. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck is fully tightened to prevent slippage under torque. Reduce feed pressure as the bit exits the far side of the material to prevent grabbing. Do not exceed the rated speed range for cobalt bits in the material being drilled, and allow adequate chip clearing during deep-hole passes to prevent flute packing.
