The HERTEL C.E11.2223 is an extra length high-speed steel drill bit designed for drilling applications that require extended reach beyond standard bit lengths. Ground to a 118-degree point angle, this bit delivers clean entry in a wide range of materials including mild steel, aluminum, wood, and plastics. The 7/8 inch diameter, 12-inch flute length, and 18-inch overall length make it well suited for deep-hole drilling in structural members, ductwork framing, pipe support installations, and other trade applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. The oxide finish provides basic corrosion resistance and helps reduce friction during cutting. This is a general-purpose grade bit intended for professional use.
This extra length drill bit is used across multiple trades wherever deep or through-hole drilling is required in hard-to-reach locations. Common applications include HVAC duct framing, plumbing rough-in through deep structural members, electrical conduit penetrations through thick walls or beams, and mechanical equipment installations requiring deep anchor or clearance holes. The extended 18-inch overall length is particularly useful when drilling through double-framed or engineered lumber assemblies where a standard-length bit would bottom out before completing the bore.
Designed as a general-purpose extra length drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks and magnetic drill press arbors accepting 7/8 inch shank tooling across industrial, mechanical, and trade drilling applications.
This bit is installed and operated by any trade professional using a drill press, magnetic base drill, or heavy-duty hand drill with sufficient chuck capacity for a 7/8 inch shank. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before drilling to prevent bit walking or workpiece movement. Use cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if the point shows signs of chipping or excessive wear.
