The HERTEL C.E11.0754 is an extra length twist drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling applications that standard-length bits cannot reach. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish, this bit measures 0.2969 inches in diameter and delivers a 118-degree point angle suited for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. The 12-inch flute length provides efficient chip evacuation during extended cuts, while the 18-inch overall length gives technicians and machinists the reach needed for through-hole work in thick stock, structural members, or deep assemblies. Two flutes keep the design straightforward and easy to resharpen in the field.
This extra length drill bit is used in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance applications where standard or jobber-length bits fall short. Typical scenarios include drilling through deep weldments, long tube sections, structural steel, and similar work encountered in mechanical, HVAC equipment fabrication, and industrial maintenance settings. Its general-purpose grade makes it suitable for steel, cast iron, aluminum, and many non-ferrous metals. Sold individually, it fits into standard drill chucks accepting round-shank bits of its diameter.
Designed as a general-purpose extra length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, magnetic drill, or hand drill equipped with a chuck sized to accept a 0.2969-inch diameter round-shank bit.
Extra length drill bits should be installed by a qualified machinist or tradesperson familiar with proper drilling speeds and feeds for the material being cut. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and use cutting fluid when working through ferrous metals to extend bit life. Reduce spindle speed compared to standard-length bits of the same diameter to minimize deflection and bit breakage over the extended length. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and resharpen or replace the bit if edges show wear.
