The HERTEL C.E10.1191 is an extra length high-speed steel drill bit designed for through-drilling applications that require greater reach than a standard-length bit can provide. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers solid performance in general-purpose metal drilling tasks. The bit measures 0.4688 inches in diameter with a 118-degree split-style point for consistent centering and clean entry. At 12 inches overall length with a 9-inch flute length, it clears chips effectively in deep-hole applications. Machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians install this bit in drill presses, magnetic drills, or hand-held power drills where extended reach is the job requirement.
This extra length drill bit is suited for drilling through thick stock, structural steel, cross-member assemblies, and other workpieces where standard 6-inch bits fall short. Typical applications include HVAC and mechanical contractors drilling through structural members during equipment installation, electricians boring through deep wood or steel framing for conduit runs, and plumbers drilling through deep sill plates or structural lumber. The 2-flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It ships individually and is sold as a single unit.
Designed as a general-purpose extra length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting round-shank bits up to 0.4688 inches in diameter, including drill presses, magnetic base drills, and corded or cordless hand drills with appropriate chuck capacity.
Secure the bit fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to starting the drill. Use cutting fluid or a light machine oil when drilling ferrous stock to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Extra length bits are more susceptible to deflection — use a center punch to mark the hole location before drilling, and reduce feed pressure to maintain straightness. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if the point shows signs of chipping or dulling.
