The HERTEL C.E07.1230 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits fall short. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a straw finish, this bit handles tough alloys and hard materials common in aerospace, fabrication, and industrial maintenance work. It measures 31/64 inch (0.4844 inch) in diameter with a 12-inch overall length, giving technicians the reach needed to drill through structural assemblies, deep cavities, and stacked materials. The 135-degree split point is self-centering and reduces walking on entry, minimizing the need for a center punch on most metals. Installed by machinists, aircraft maintenance technicians, and industrial tradespeople, this bit runs in standard right-hand rotation.
This drill bit is suited for aerospace maintenance, sheet metal fabrication, HVAC equipment manufacturing, and general industrial drilling where extended reach is required. The 4.375-inch spiral flute length provides efficient chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling. Its straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters, making it compatible with handheld drills, drill presses, and magnetic base drills commonly found in field and shop environments. The cobalt construction makes it appropriate for stainless steel, titanium, hardened alloys, and other materials that wear through conventional high-speed steel bits quickly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit for use in standard right-hand drill chucks accepting a 31/64-inch straight cylindrical shank. Meets NAS 907 standards for aircraft extension drill bits.
This bit is installed by machinists, aircraft maintenance technicians, and industrial trade professionals. Secure the straight shank firmly in the drill chuck before use and verify the chuck key is removed before powering the drill. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hard alloys or stainless steel to extend bit life and manage heat buildup. Follow applicable workplace safety standards and wear eye protection during all drilling operations.
