The HERTEL C.E07.0159 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit engineered for deep-reach drilling in aerospace, sheet metal, and structural fabrication applications. Built to a 12-inch overall length with a 1/16-inch diameter and a 135-degree split point, this bit centers itself on contact and reduces walking on hard or curved surfaces. The straw finish cobalt construction provides added heat resistance and edge retention when drilling through high-strength alloys, stainless steel, and hardened materials. Two spiral flutes and a web-thinned, tapered web design promote efficient chip evacuation during extended drilling passes.
This aircraft extension bit is intended for professional use in aerospace maintenance, structural assembly, and industrial fabrication where standard-length bits cannot reach. The 12-inch reach allows access to recessed fastener holes and blind locations in aircraft frames, structural steel, and heavy equipment panels. With a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 1/16 inch in diameter, it seats securely in standard drill chucks and right-angle drill adapters common in trade and MRO environments. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill operation.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit for use with standard drill chucks and right-angle adapters accepting a 1/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for right-hand drilling operations in aerospace maintenance, structural fabrication, and industrial MRO settings.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists, aerospace maintenance technicians, or industrial fabricators familiar with small-diameter cobalt tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the drill chuck before use and verify runout is within acceptable limits to avoid bit breakage at this diameter. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys to preserve edge life. Inspect the bit for chipping or wear before each use, as small-diameter cobalt bits are susceptible to breakage under side-load or misalignment.
