The HERTEL C.E06.0556 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit designed for drilling in aerospace and industrial applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a straw finish, this bit handles harder materials and higher heat than standard HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point is self-centering, eliminating the need for a center punch and reducing walking on flat or curved surfaces. With a 2.5-inch spiral flute length and a 6-inch overall length, it provides the reach required for deep or obstructed drilling locations. Two right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during operation. This bit meets NAS 907 standards and is suited for use by machinists, aerospace technicians, and maintenance professionals.
This drill bit is intended for use in aircraft assembly, structural metalwork, and extended-reach drilling tasks where conventional drill bit lengths are insufficient. The cobalt construction performs well in ferrous metals, stainless steel, and other hard alloys commonly encountered in industrial and aerospace maintenance. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without the need for adapters. General-purpose tool performance makes it suitable for both production drilling and field maintenance applications requiring a reliable, heat-resistant cutting tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use aircraft extension drill bit for applications requiring a 7/32 inch diameter, straight-cylindrical shank, cobalt bit conforming to NAS 907 standards.
This bit is installed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill chuck compatible with a straight cylindrical shank. Ensure the drill press or handheld drill is powered off and secured before inserting or removing the bit. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling hard alloys to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Verify workpiece is firmly clamped before drilling to prevent movement and bit damage.
