The HERTEL C.E06.0253 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit sized at No. 39 (0.0995 inches decimal equivalent) with a 6-inch overall length. It features a 135-degree split point geometry for self-centering entry and reduced walking on hard or layered materials. The straw finish and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce cutting resistance and heat buildup during drilling. This bit is intended for use by machinists, aerospace fabricators, and maintenance technicians who require extended reach in confined or deep-access drilling applications on metal substrates.
This drill bit is suited for aircraft maintenance, structural fabrication, and general-purpose metalworking where standard-length bits cannot reach. The 1.375-inch spiral flute length clears chips efficiently during through-drilling. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks. Its cobalt construction handles heat better than high-speed steel, making it appropriate for drilling stainless steel, titanium alloys, and other hard metals commonly encountered in aerospace and industrial maintenance work.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.0995-inch shank diameter.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drilling equipment powered off and secured. Ensure the chuck is tightened firmly around the straight cylindrical shank before operation to prevent slippage. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hard alloys to extend tool life and maintain hole tolerance. Secure the workpiece before drilling to prevent movement during cutting.
