The HERTEL C.E03.0754 is an aircraft extension drill bit engineered for deep-reach drilling in tight or obstructed work areas. It is ground from high-speed steel with an oxide finish and features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and web-thinned for reduced thrust and faster penetration without a center punch. The 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch decimal) diameter runs on a straight cylindrical shank of matching diameter, keeping runout minimal in standard drill chucks. With a 6-inch overall length and a 3-1/16 inch spiral flute, this bit handles applications where a standard-length bit cannot reach. It cuts right-hand with a two-flute, tapered-web configuration suited to general-purpose metalworking and structural work.
Aircraft extension drill bits like the C.E03.0754 are used wherever access depth is the primary challenge: drilling through structural steel, aluminum airframes, HVAC equipment panels, electrical enclosures, plumbing fixture flanges, and pool equipment housings. The extended reach is particularly useful when working through multiple material layers or inside assembled equipment where a standard jobber-length bit would bottom out in the chuck before the cutting edge reaches the workpiece. Trade professionals across sheet metal, HVAC fabrication, electrical rough-in, and light structural work keep extension bits on hand for exactly these clearance situations.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 19/64 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use in handheld drills, drill presses, and right-angle drill attachments across metal, light structural, and fabrication applications.
Installation is performed by machinists, sheet metal workers, HVAC fabricators, electricians, and other trades requiring deep-reach drilling. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling to prevent bit deflection at extended length. Apply cutting fluid when drilling ferrous materials to extend tool life and reduce heat. Disconnect or de-energize any equipment being drilled into before beginning work, in accordance with applicable lockout/tagout procedures.
