The HERTEL C.E03.0226 is a No. 43 wire-size aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling in aerospace and general metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and reduces walking at the start of a cut. The 6-inch overall length gives technicians the extended reach needed to access recessed or difficult locations on aircraft structures, frames, and assemblies. Two spiral flutes and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration promote efficient chip evacuation during right-hand cutting operations.
This drill bit suits applications where standard-length bits cannot reach. Common install scenarios include aircraft sheet metal work, airframe assembly, and general fabrication where tight clearances or deep bolt-hole patterns require extended tooling. The 0.0890-inch decimal diameter and 1.25-inch flute length make it appropriate for light to medium-duty through-hole drilling in steel, aluminum, and similar materials. It is typically used by aviation maintenance technicians, aerospace fabricators, and experienced machinists working to NAS 907 standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option for aircraft extension drilling applications conforming to NAS 907 requirements. Straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and drill motors accepting 0.0890-inch shank diameters.
This drill bit is installed and operated by aviation maintenance technicians, machinists, or qualified fabricators using appropriate pneumatic or electric drill equipment. Ensure the work surface is securely clamped and the drill motor is rated for the shank diameter before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous materials to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Follow applicable NAS, FAA, or facility maintenance procedures when performing aircraft structural drilling.
