The HERTEL C.402.1110 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. It measures 11.10 mm (0.4370 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle, providing a versatile cutting geometry suited to a wide range of materials and applications. The bit features a right-hand spiral flute configuration and an oxide coating that reduces friction and helps extend tool life under normal shop conditions. At 140.00 mm overall length with a 103.00 mm flute length, it delivers the reach and chip-clearing capacity expected of a jobber-length drill. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators are the typical end users.
This drill bit is suited for use in drill presses, lathes, and handheld power drills where a straight-cylindrical shank is compatible. Its general-purpose grade makes it appropriate for light to medium-duty production work, maintenance and repair operations, and job-site drilling tasks. The 0.4370-inch decimal equivalent places it within the 0.4000 to 0.5000 inch size range, making it a common selection when drilling clearance or pilot holes in structural and fabricated assemblies. No coolant-through capability is present, so standard flood or mist cooling should be applied externally when drilling ferrous materials at higher speeds.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and holders that accept a straight-cylindrical shank in the 11.10 mm diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the drill is properly seated and tightened in the chuck before operation. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant externally when drilling steel or other ferrous materials to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point geometry is compromised.
