The HERTEL C.402.0710 is a high speed steel (HSS) jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. The bit features a 118-degree standard point angle, a spiral flute geometry, and an oxide finish that provides mild lubricity and corrosion resistance during cutting operations. At 7.10 mm (0.2795 inches) in diameter with a 108 mm overall length and a 75 mm flute length, this is a standard jobber-length configuration suited for production and maintenance drilling tasks. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in keyed or keyless chucks. Right-hand cutting direction follows conventional drill press and hand-drill operation.
This drill bit is appropriate for use in machine shops, maintenance facilities, fabrication environments, and field service applications where a general-purpose HSS jobber drill is required. The 7.10 mm diameter falls within the 7.00 to 8.00 mm size range and is equivalent to approximately 0.2795 inches decimal, making it useful when metric sizing is specified on engineering drawings or component callouts. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and industrial tradespeople are the typical end users. The bit is sold individually and is suitable for both handheld drill use and drill press operations.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any keyed or keyless drill chuck that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank in the 7.10 mm diameter range.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before powering the drill. Use appropriate workholding to prevent material movement during drilling. Cutting fluid or coolant is recommended when drilling harder metals to extend tool life, though this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Follow applicable shop safety practices and PPE requirements when operating drilling equipment.
