The HERTEL C.402.0165 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in metalworking applications. It measures 1.65 mm (0.0650 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle and an overall length of 51.00 mm (approximately 2.008 inches). The bit features an oxide coating that provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces friction during cutting. The straight cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks. This bit is used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, maintenance mechanics, and metalworking tradespeople who need accurate small-diameter holes in production or repair settings.
This jobber drill is suited for drilling steel and cast iron in light to medium-duty applications. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. At 1.65 mm diameter, it fits into the small-diameter range commonly used for pilot holes, tapping prep, and precision layout work on ferrous workpieces. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill operation. No coolant-through capability is provided, so external cutting fluid or air cooling is recommended when drilling harder steels at higher feed rates.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in ferrous materials including steel and cast iron. Falls within the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch (approximately 1.27 mm to 2.54 mm) decimal-inch drill size range. Fits any standard drill chuck that accepts straight-shank tooling in this diameter class.
This drill bit is installed and used by machinists and metalworking technicians. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill chuck before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Apply cutting fluid or a light oil when drilling harder steels to extend tool life and improve hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges before each use - at this small diameter, chisel edge wear or chipping reduces accuracy quickly and can cause bit breakage.
