The HERTEL 91196899 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials with extended tool life. The 1.25-inch cutting diameter pairs with a fine-pitch, 6-flute configuration that produces consistent chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces during roughing passes. A 0.75-inch shank diameter provides rigid clamping in standard end mill holders. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this cutter for preliminary stock removal before finishing operations.
This end mill is suited for conventional milling centers, knee mills, and CNC machining centers performing roughing passes on steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and similar materials. With a 2-inch length of cut and 4.25-inch overall length, it reaches standard workpiece depths without requiring extended-reach tooling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for the majority of vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is not center-cutting, so it is not intended for direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole or ramping entry path.
Designed as a standard-shank roughing end mill compatible with 3/4-inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders used on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation and removal should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the holder bore and shank for chips or burrs before seating. Set tool length offset in the machine control before beginning the cut. Because this end mill is not center-cutting, use a ramping or helical interpolation entry strategy rather than direct axial plunge.
