The HERTEL 91196808 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, this tool delivers elevated hardness and heat resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 20 mm diameter cutter features 4 flutes in a fine-pitch configuration with a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into workpieces. With a 75 mm length of cut and 141 mm overall length, this end mill suits medium-depth roughing passes in milling machines and machining centers. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. The TiCN coating provides improved wear resistance and surface lubricity, making it appropriate for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. The fine-pitch flute design reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation during heavy stock removal. The 20 mm shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, allowing direct mounting in ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, or hydraulic toolholders with the appropriate bore size. It is not designed for extended-reach applications and does not feature a variable helix geometry.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard milling machines and machining centers accepting 20 mm shank toolholders.
Installation is performed by machining professionals familiar with rotary cutting tool setup. The toolholder bore must match the 20 mm shank diameter and should be clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping and before cutting. Follow applicable shop safety procedures for rotating machinery, including proper RPM and feed rate selection based on workpiece material and machine rigidity.
