The HERTEL 91196659 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials while maintaining edge integrity under heat and load. The 2-inch cutting diameter and 8-flute fine-pitch geometry work together to produce a smoother surface finish than coarser roughers, while still clearing chips efficiently. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make this a standard configuration for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. Machinists and tool and die shops reach for this style of end mill when roughing cuts demand both stock removal rate and finish quality in a single pass.
This end mill suits horizontal and vertical knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual Bridgeport-style machines handling steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar alloys. Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the set screw or collet nut is properly torqued per the tool-holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the TiCN coating and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, and verify correct spindle rotation direction before engaging the cut.
