The HERTEL 91196592 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials with improved heat and wear resistance. The 1/2 inch diameter cutter features 4 flutes with a fine pitch configuration and a right-hand cutting and flute direction. With a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 2.5 inch overall length, it fits standard CNC and manual milling setups. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and shop technicians are the primary installers.
This roughing end mill is suited for roughing passes in ferrous metals, alloy steels, and similar materials where chip clearance and cut depth per pass are priorities. The fine pitch and TiCN coating help maintain edge life under heavy chip loads. With a 1/2 inch shank diameter matching the cutter diameter, it seats directly into standard collets, end mill holders, or side lock holders. It is used in both job shop and production environments on vertical mills, machining centers, and CNC knee mills. No extended reach geometry is present, making it appropriate for standard-depth pockets and profile cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and side lock holders in vertical and CNC milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the minimum engagement depth specified by the holder manufacturer before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and do not run a damaged cutter.
