The HERTEL 91192716 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The mill measures 0.5625 inches (9/16 inches) in diameter with a 1/2-inch shank, a 1.375-inch length of cut, and a 3.375-inch overall length. Its coarse-pitch, 4-flute geometry is engineered to clear chips efficiently and reduce chatter during roughing passes. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard on this tool. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in machine shop environments.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous metals, alloy steels, and similar materials where high feed rates and aggressive depth-of-cut are required. The coarse pitch flute design breaks up chips into smaller segments, reducing heat buildup and preventing chip packing in the flutes. It is a non-centercutting tool, meaning it is intended for peripheral cuts and side milling rather than plunge operations. Typical applications include profile milling, slotting, and step cutting on manual or CNC milling machines in production and job-shop settings.
Designed as a direct-fit roughing end mill for standard milling machine spindles accepting a 1/2-inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon-style side-lock holders, and similar 1/2-inch toolholding systems used on manual and CNC vertical milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder to prevent tool pullout under cutting loads. Because this tool is non-centercutting, do not use it for direct plunge entry into solid material.
