The HERTEL 91192641 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN for heat and wear resistance, this tool handles tough ferrous and exotic alloys where standard HSS cutters fall short. It measures 5/8 inch in diameter with a matching 5/8 inch shank, a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, and an overall length of 3-3/4 inches. The coarse-pitch, 4-flute geometry breaks chips efficiently and reduces cutting forces during heavy roughing passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for rapid stock removal before finish passes.
This end mill is suited for manual and CNC vertical milling machines, knee mills, and machining centers in job shop, production, and maintenance environments. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard setup for conventional milling operations. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. Applications include roughing slots, shoulders, and pockets in carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and similar materials where coarse-pitch geometry improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup.
Designed as a standard-shank roughing end mill compatible with 5/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style side-lock holders used on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw or collet nut to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the tool for chips or cracks before mounting, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut.
