The HERTEL 91192443 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool handles tough ferrous metals and heat-resistant alloys where standard HSS tooling wears prematurely. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 2-7/8 inch overall length. The coarse-pitch flute geometry reduces cutting forces and helps evacuate chips efficiently during heavy roughing passes. It ships with a bright, uncoated finish. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this style of end mill for roughing operations before finish passes are taken.
This roughing end mill is suited for use in manual knee mills and CNC vertical machining centers performing roughing operations on steel, stainless, and similar materials. The 5/8 inch shank seats directly in standard ER or R8 collet systems as well as side-lock holders sized for that diameter. Its 4-flute, right-hand cut, right-hand helix configuration is a common general-purpose rougher geometry for shop-floor stock removal. It is a single-end tool, so it is replaced rather than flipped when the cutting end is worn.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit roughing end mill for standard 5/8 inch collet and side-lock toolholders used in vertical milling machines and machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque the collet nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and confirm the cutting direction matches the spindle rotation direction before engaging the workpiece.
