The HERTEL 91192104 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and tough alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The 2-inch cutting diameter and 8-flute coarse-pitch geometry break chips into smaller segments, reducing cutting forces and vibration during heavy roughing passes. At 4 inches length of cut and 7.75 inches overall length, this end mill is suited to deep-pocket and stepped-profile work on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tool in applications where roughing efficiency and tool life under heat are the primary concerns.
This end mill is used in metalworking and machining environments handling steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys. Its bright uncoated finish makes it suitable for use with cutting fluids common in production shops. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual vertical mills. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is resharpened or replaced rather than flipped. Typical applications include roughing pockets, slots, and profiles where a finishing pass will follow.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-procurement roughing end mill for use in standard R8, CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders accepting a 2-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe-state before changing tooling. Use a properly rated end mill holder or collet chuck sized for a 2-inch shank, and torque set screws to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the shank and holder bore for chips or burrs before seating the tool.
