The HERTEL 8850575 is an uncoated ceramic turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to VNGA332T00825 style specifications, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a negative rake geometry and neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches decimal), the insert length is 0.63 inches, and the corner radius is 1/32 inches (0.0312 inches). Grade HT601CA ceramic construction provides high hardness and thermal resistance suited for high-speed turning of hardened steels and cast iron. Holding is accomplished via clamp and pin method, consistent with standard VNGA toolholder systems.
This insert is intended for turning applications in industrial and production machining environments. The VNGA geometry with negative rake and zero-degree relief angle is well suited for rigid setups where tool pressure can be managed, such as finishing and semi-finishing passes on hardened ferrous materials. The neutral hand configuration allows use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholders designed for the VNGA insert style. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on CNC turning centers or manual engine lathes are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for VNGA332-T00825 style inserts in standard VNGA-compatible toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thick diamond insert with clamp and pin retention.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop, locked-out, and de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping components are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench for clamp screws per the toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten. Ceramic inserts are brittle and should not be used on interrupted cuts or in conditions with excessive vibration without verifying suitability with the toolholder manufacturer.
