The HERTEL 86366069 is a cobalt threaded shank drill bit sized to No. 11 wire gauge, equivalent to 0.191 inches in diameter. Built for drilling into high-tensile strength metals, it features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact and reduces the thrust required to start a hole. The oxide coating adds surface hardness and mild corrosion resistance. Overall length is 1.25 inches, with a 9/16-inch spiral flute length and a right-hand cutting direction. The 1/4-28 threaded shank provides positive retention in compatible quick-change or threaded chuck systems. This bit is intended for use by machinists, aerospace maintenance technicians, and metal fabricators working with alloy steels, stainless, and other hard materials.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling applications involving high-tensile strength metals where standard high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. The short overall length and compact flute make it practical for tight-access drilling. The web-thinned, tapered-web construction reduces cutting resistance in harder alloys. It meets NAS 965 Type D specification, making it appropriate for aerospace and military maintenance repair operations where dimensional compliance is required.
Designed for use with quick-change or threaded chuck systems accepting a 1/4-28 threaded shank. Intended for drilling high-tensile strength metals including alloy steels and stainless steel. Meets NAS 965 Type D specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with metal drilling operations. Secure the threaded shank fully into the chuck before operation to prevent slippage. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hard or heat-sensitive alloys to extend bit life and maintain hole tolerance. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
