The HERTEL 86143856 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal components. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers accurate sizing in through-holes and blind holes across a range of production and maintenance machining applications. The reamer measures 0.6280 inches in diameter with a 9-inch overall length and a 2.25-inch flute length. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With 8 flutes and right-hand cutting direction, it produces smooth, consistent bore surfaces to close tolerances. Machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary installers for this type of tooling.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing pre-drilled or bored holes in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in job shop, production machining, and maintenance repair environments. The 0.6280-inch diameter falls within the 0.5000 to 0.6999 inch diameter range, making it appropriate for medium-bore finishing work on mills, lathes, and drill presses. It is not configured as a dowel pin reamer and is not an over- or under-size variant, meaning it is intended for standard nominal-diameter finishing cuts.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.6280-inch diameter class.
This reamer should be installed and operated by qualified machinists familiar with proper reaming practice. Always ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely fixtured before mounting or removing the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Do not use a reamer to remove excessive stock; pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended allowance before reaming.
