The HERTEL 85707545 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, plastic, and similar materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit delivers extended surface hardness and improved wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS. It carries a wire gauge size of No. 31, equal to 0.1200 inch in decimal, and is ground to a standard 118-degree point angle for broad material compatibility. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks, and the two-flute spiral design clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling. Overall length is 2.75 inches with a flute length of 1.625 inches.
This bit is suited for light-duty production drilling and maintenance work across mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing trades. The No. 31 wire size is a common requirement when drilling for taps, sheet metal fasteners, and small-diameter through-holes in both field and shop environments. The right-hand cut and regular spiral configuration make it compatible with standard corded and cordless drill drivers. Web thinning reduces thrust at the point, which is useful when drilling thinner-gauge stock without a pilot hole.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.1200-inch straight shank. Fits corded drills, cordless drill drivers, and drill presses commonly used in trade and shop applications.
A licensed or qualified technician should select the appropriate cutting speed for the material being drilled to avoid premature coating wear or bit breakage. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling, and ensure the chuck is fully tightened on the shank. Do not use excessive feed pressure on thin-gauge stock, even with the web-thinned point. Wear appropriate eye protection per applicable shop safety standards.
