The HERTEL 85703676 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in metal, wood, and plastic. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, it delivers consistent cutting performance across a wide range of materials without the added cost of specialty coatings. The bit features a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning for improved penetration and reduced walking at start. At 6-5/8 inches overall length with a 4-13/16-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and drill presses used in trade and shop environments. Machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and HVAC technicians commonly reach for jobber-length bits like this for everyday drilling tasks.
This bit is suited for use in both handheld and stationary drilling applications. The 9/16-inch diameter places it in a common range for conduit knock-outs, pipe clearance holes, structural fastener bores, and bracket fabrication. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks without modification. Right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole drilling in mild steel, aluminum, and thermoplastics. It is sold individually and fits workflows where a single replacement bit is needed on the job.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 9/16-inch straight cylindrical shank, including handheld drills, drill presses, and milling machine setups.
Installation is performed by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades requiring field or shop drilling. Secure the shank firmly in a properly sized chuck and verify concentricity before starting. Always secure the workpiece to prevent rotation, and use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges before use and replace or resharpen if chipping or wear is present.
