The HERTEL 84580992 is a No. 25 wire-size jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose holemaking in metal, wood, and composite materials. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it delivers reliable wear resistance in production and maintenance drilling applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less feed force compared to a conventional 118-degree point. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-7/8-inch flute length, the 84580992 fits standard drill chucks and drill presses without modification. The two-flute spiral design with a regular helix and tapered web configuration handles chip evacuation efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole work.
This drill bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and general fabrication crews running production or repair work. The No. 25 wire size corresponds to a 0.1495-inch decimal diameter, a common size for tapping pilot holes and precision clearance holes in light-gauge steel, aluminum, brass, and plastics. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in keyed or keyless chucks on handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC turrets. It conforms to NAS specification standards, making it appropriate for aerospace and defense maintenance applications where tooling specifications are controlled.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use in any drill press, handheld power drill, or CNC turret accepting a 0.1495-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for holemaking applications in light metals, plastics, and composite materials within the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch drill bit size range.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill powered down and the chuck fully released. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation to prevent slippage and runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety standards when operating drilling equipment.
