The HERTEL 84580984 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 24, equivalent to 0.1520 inches decimal diameter. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust required to start a hole. The oxide coating provides a mild layer of surface protection. With an overall length of 3-1/8 inches and a 2-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank. The spiral, regular-helix flute design clears chips efficiently during through-hole drilling. This is a heavy-duty grade bit built to NAS specification standards and suited for trade professionals performing repetitive holemaking tasks in metal and similar materials.
This bit is intended for holemaking applications across general metalworking, HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in, and electrical trade work where precision small-diameter holes are required. Wire gauge size 24 is commonly used when drilling for sheet metal fasteners, pilot holes, or conduit mounting points. The right-hand cutting direction and 2-flute configuration make it compatible with standard corded or cordless reversible drills and drill presses. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces cutting resistance and extends bit life in production environments where the same hole size is drilled repeatedly.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit compatible with any 3-jaw chuck or collet system accommodating a 0.1520-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including handheld drills and bench-mounted drill presses used in metalworking and trade applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with rotary cutting tools and applicable shop safety practices. Secure the bit firmly in the chuck before operation and verify zero runout before beginning a production run. Power down and disconnect the drill or press before changing bits. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
