The HERTEL 84580844 is a No. 10 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel and finished with an oxide coating. It is designed for holemaking in metal and general shop materials at a decimal diameter of 0.1935 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force compared to a conventional 118-degree point. A tapered web and web-thinned geometry keep the cutting action efficient throughout the full 2.4375-inch flute length. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators use this bit in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC setups requiring a standard straight-cylindrical shank. Total weight is 0.3 pounds per piece.
This bit suits production and maintenance drilling applications where a heavy-duty jobber-length HSS bit is the correct tool. The right-hand spiral flute with regular helix evacuates chips cleanly in through-holes and blind bores. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard Jacobs-taper or keyless chucks without an adapter. Typical applications include drilling steel plate, structural members, bracket stock, and general ferrous shop work where a wire-gauge No. 10 hole is required. The oxide finish provides mild lubricity and surface protection during dry or flood-cooled cutting.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill replacement for any application requiring a No. 10 wire-size straight-shank drill bit in a standard Jacobs or keyless chuck. Conforms to NAS specification designation for heavy-duty jobber-series geometry.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should install and operate this drill bit. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck and tighten before starting the spindle. Verify spindle speed is appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before beginning the cut. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use flood, mist, or cutting oil applied at the entry point as the application allows.
