The HERTEL 84512011 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. The 4-flute, fine-pitch geometry removes stock quickly while keeping chip loads manageable. The mill measures 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) in diameter with a 1/2 inch shank, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3-1/4 inch overall length. The bright, uncoated finish makes it easy to inspect for wear. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling machine setups.
This roughing end mill is suited for general machining applications where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. It is commonly used in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments on vertical and horizontal milling machines or CNC machining centers. The non-centercutting design means it is intended for peripheral cuts and side milling rather than direct plunge entry. It handles a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials where cobalt tooling is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, or side-lock holders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. Non-centercutting design requires a pre-drilled or pre-bored entry point for pocket milling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the holder manufacturer's specification to prevent pull-out. Inspect the spindle taper, collet, and holder for debris or runout before seating the tool. Never use this non-centercutting end mill for direct plunge cuts without a pre-machined entry.
