The HERTEL 84511880 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers increased wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 7/8 inch (0.8750 inches) in diameter with a 3/4 inch (0.7500 inches) shank, a 1-7/8 inch (1.8750 inches) length of cut, and a 4-1/8 inch (4.1250 inches) overall length. With 5 fine-pitch flutes and right-hand cutting and flute direction, this tool is suited for roughing passes that prioritize chip evacuation and stock removal rate over surface finish.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where rough profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling are required. The fine-pitch flute geometry reduces chatter and vibration during heavy cuts. It is a non-centercutting tool, meaning it is not suited for direct plunging; ramp or helical entry is recommended. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with steel, stainless, and hard alloys will find the M42 cobalt grade appropriate for elevated cutting temperatures that would degrade standard M2 tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard milling toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch shank diameter in CNC and manual milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop-standard tool-change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before seating or removing the tool. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer. Because this is a non-centercutting tool, program ramp or helical entry moves rather than axial plunge cuts to avoid tool damage.
