The HERTEL 84511765 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, this tool handles tough workpiece materials while maintaining edge life under heat. It runs a 3/4 inch diameter with a matching 3/4 inch shank, three flutes in a coarse pitch geometry, and a 1.625 inch length of cut. The overall length is 3.875 inches. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make this a standard configuration for conventional and climb milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill in vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills.
This roughing end mill suits ferrous and non-ferrous material removal where stock needs to come off fast before a finishing pass. The coarse pitch flute geometry breaks chips aggressively, reducing heat buildup and tool pressure. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The TiN coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in steel, cast iron, and similar materials. Typical applications include roughing pockets, slots, and peripheral cuts in job-shop and production environments where M42 cobalt is preferred over standard HSS for its improved red hardness.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit roughing end mill for standard 3/4 inch toolholders including ER collet chucks, Weldon-flat side-lock holders, and hydraulic chuck systems accepting a 3/4 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum engagement spec before tightening. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine spindle horsepower.
