The HERTEL 84511641 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), this tool delivers extended wear resistance and heat tolerance under high-load cutting conditions. The 3/8 inch diameter, 4-flute configuration with a coarse pitch geometry breaks chips efficiently and reduces cutting forces, making it well suited for roughing passes on ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction follow standard milling conventions. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual milling setups.
This roughing end mill is intended for use in vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills where high material removal rates are the priority. The coarse pitch serrated cutting edge design evacuates chips rapidly, which reduces heat buildup and extends tool life between passes. With a 1-5/8 inch length of cut and a 3-3/16 inch overall length, this tool handles standard depth roughing applications in production and job-shop environments. It is not center-cutting and does not support extended reach or variable helix configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and side-lock holders on vertical CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling setup procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth and torque the retention screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specifications. Because this end mill is not center-cutting, do not plunge directly into the workpiece — use a ramping or helical entry path instead.
