The HERTEL 84511294 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers heat resistance and toughness suited to ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The tool measures 0.25 inches in diameter with a 0.375-inch shank diameter and an overall length of 3.125 inches. Four right-hand flutes with a coarse pitch geometry break up chips efficiently, reducing cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy roughing passes. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
This end mill is intended for roughing operations on machining centers, knee mills, and CNC vertical mills where stock removal rate is the priority over surface finish. The 1.25-inch length of cut and regular-length geometry make it appropriate for standard-depth pocketing, slotting, and peripheral roughing. It is not center-cutting, so it should be used for side milling and plunge operations only when appropriate toolpaths are programmed to avoid axial plunge entry. The coarse pitch and right-hand cutting direction are well-suited to conventional and climb milling strategies in shop environments running steel, stainless, and similar alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill compatible with standard 0.375-inch end mill holders and collet chucks used on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder that matches the 0.375-inch shank diameter and torque the retention hardware to the machine or holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after securing the tool, and confirm the toolpath does not call for direct axial plunge entry, as this tool is not center-cutting.
