The HERTEL 84213685 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance during interrupted cuts and heavy roughing passes. The 2-inch diameter, 8-flute configuration with a coarse pitch geometry breaks chips efficiently and reduces cutting forces on the workpiece. At 7.75 inches overall length with a 4-inch length of cut, this tool suits deep-pocket and side-milling work on ferrous and hard materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and manual knee mills are the primary users.
This roughing end mill is suited for ferrous metal removal applications including steel, stainless steel, and other hard alloys where a standard high-speed steel tool would overheat or wear prematurely. The TiN coating adds lubricity and surface hardness, extending tool life between regrinds. The 2-inch shank diameter matches the 2-inch cutter diameter for solid, low-runout tool holding. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional right-hand spindle setups. This tool is not center-cutting and should not be used for plunge entry.
Designed for use in standard right-hand spindle milling machines accepting a 2-inch shank diameter. Compatible with R8, CAT, BT, and similar tool holders sized for a 2-inch straight shank. No extended-reach or variable-helix geometry; confirm holder clearance before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tool-holding procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth for the holder being used. Because this tool is not center-cutting, establish the starting bore or use a ramp-entry toolpath rather than direct plunging into solid material.
