The HERTEL 84213594 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 3/16 inch cutting diameter and 4-flute geometry produce a coarse, interrupted chip pattern that reduces cutting forces and heat buildup during heavy roughing passes. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction suit standard vertical and horizontal milling machine setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this end mill for roughing operations that precede finish passes.
This end mill is suited for use in manual knee mills, CNC machining centers, and tool room setups handling steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar hard materials. The 3/16 inch mill diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut makes it appropriate for shallow slotting, peripheral roughing, and step milling in tight workpiece features. The 3/8 inch shank diameter provides rigid tool retention in standard collet chucks or end mill holders. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is not reversible and should be replaced or resharpened when the cutting edges are worn.
Designed as a standard single-end roughing end mill with a 3/8 inch shank, compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles sized to accept a 3/8 inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the holder manufacturer's specification. This is a non-center-cutting end mill — do not attempt straight plunge cuts; use peripheral entry or a pre-drilled start hole.
