The HERTEL 83246942 is a solid carbide chucking reamer in Letter T size, designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.3580 inches and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0003 inches, this tool delivers accurate, repeatable bore sizing in a single pass. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for through-hole and short blind-hole reaming in a variety of workpiece materials. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute length, it fits standard chuck setups on mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the carbide substrate exposed for use where coating interaction with the workpiece is a concern.
This reamer is intended for use in metalworking and machining environments where hole tolerances demand more precision than a drill alone can provide. It is commonly used in job shops, toolrooms, and production machining cells to finish pre-drilled or bored holes to a Letter T diameter. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct clamping in a drill chuck, collet, or floating reamer holder. Chucking reamers are installed and removed by qualified machinists following standard lockout procedures for the machine tool in use. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is de-energized before inserting or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Use a floating reamer holder when possible to allow self-alignment and prevent tool deflection. Always ream a pre-drilled or bored hole that is undersized by the appropriate stock allowance for the material being cut — do not attempt to ream from a raw casting or an over-sized hole.
