The HERTEL 83246314 is a solid carbide straight-flute die drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and difficult-to-machine metals. Built from C2-grade carbide with a bright finish, it features a 140-degree notched point and a web-thinned design that reduces thrust and improves chip flow at entry. The cutting diameter is 0.1065 inches, corresponding to wire size number 36, with a diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches for tight, repeatable holes. Right-hand cutting and a two-flute straight configuration make this bit well-suited to die work, toolroom applications, and production drilling where hole quality and dimensional accuracy are critical.
This drill bit is intended for use in ferrous and specialty metal applications including stainless steel, chrome alloy, heat-treated alloy, nickel alloy, steel, and titanium alloy. It is a common choice in toolroom, die-making, and precision machining environments where a small-diameter, high-performance carbide drill is required. The straight-flute geometry is particularly effective when drilling through thin-walled sections or materials prone to chatter with spiral-flute tools.
Designed for use in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual toolroom equipment accepting a 0.1065-inch shank; rated for primary and secondary workpiece materials including chrome alloy, heat-treated alloy, nickel alloy, stainless steel, steel, and titanium alloy as specified by the manufacturer.
This drill bit should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician in equipment capable of holding the 0.1065-inch shank securely without runout. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and verify spindle speed is appropriate for the material and diameter. Inspect the cutting edges before each use; solid carbide is brittle and susceptible to chipping if the bit contacts an interrupted cut or hard inclusion at excessive feed. No coolant-through path is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling stainless steel, titanium alloy, or heat-treated materials.
