The HERTEL 83245878 is a solid carbide spade drill bit designed for drilling hard steel, high-strength steel, and other demanding ferrous materials in production and maintenance machining environments. The bit features a 118-degree point angle and a bright, uncoated finish that allows the cutting edge geometry to be inspected without interference from coating layers. At 0.3438 inches in diameter with an overall length (OAL) of 2.5 inches and a flute length of 0.9375 inches, this bit is suited for short, precise hole-making applications where tool rigidity is critical. Right-hand cutting direction. Typically installed in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills by machinists and tool-and-die technicians.
This drill bit is intended for use in hard steel and high-strength material applications where solid carbide construction provides the necessary hardness and heat resistance that high-speed steel tooling cannot sustain. Its compact flute length and overall length make it appropriate for shallow-hole drilling operations in tight clearance situations. The uncoated bright finish suits applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern, or where the bit will be resharpened in-house. Packaging is single-unit quantity.
Designed for use in hard steel and high-strength ferrous materials. Compatible with standard drill chucks, collet systems, and tool holders accepting a 0.3438-inch shank in CNC and manual drilling equipment.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the drill press or machining center spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the bit. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive runout or vibration. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled to maximize tool life.
